Watercolor Nails

Hallo ihr Süßen,

Heute möchte ich euch ein Design zeigen, auf das ich richtig stolz bin 😊

Ich hatte vor einiger Zeit von BornPretty und von BeautyBigBang Farben für Watercolor-Nailarts erhalten - einmal als Stift von BP und einmal in einer Flasche mit Pinsel von BBB. Lange habe ich überlegt, was ich damit zaubern könnte und wie ich das am besten mache. 

Einige von euch sind bestimmt ganz kreative Köpfe und malen selbst gern mit Watercolor Farben auf Papier. Ich habe das zwar schon ab und an versucht, aber gefallen hat es mir nie (das wird ausgebaut, wenn ich irgendwann mal Zeit habe oder ein neues Hobby brauche 😅).

Ich war also sehr skeptisch, wie gut das auf dem Nagel klappt. 

Ich habe zunächst meinen Unterlack und zwei Schichten von Wild White Ways lackiert und diesen gut durchtrocknen lassen. Danach kam eine Schicht matter Überlack drauf, denn ich habe gelesen, dass die Farben dann schöner „aufblühen“.

Nun habe ich mit den beiden Farben Kleckse auf die Nägel gemacht und sie immer ein bisschen antrocknen lassen. Ich habe mit der Flasche von BBB begonnen (die lila Farbe) und den Pinsel am Flaschenhals abgestriffen, damit zunächst wenig Farbe am Pinsel ist. Beim Auftragen hat sich direkt ein unregelmäßiger Klecks gebildet. Den habe ich kurz trocknen lassen und am Rand des Kleckses noch mal etwas Farbe aufgetragen. Damit hat das Ganze etwas Tiefe bekommen. Am Zeigefinger sieht man ganz gut, was ich meine. Ich habe dann den Stift von BP (petrol/grün) genommen und an anderen Stellen Farbe aufgetragen. Später habe ich dann noch versucht, Übergänge zu machen und auch das hat wirklich gut geklappt.

Der Auftrag mit dem Stift war deutlich präziser und da die Borsten schön weich waren, ging es auch etwas leichter, de gewünschte Menge an Farbe dort hin zu bekommen, wo ich sie haben wollte.

Getrocknet sind beide Farben schnell und auch vom Geruch her war es ok. Ich habe damit gerechnet, dass sie entweder stark nach Alkohol oder ammoniakähnlich riechen würden, war aber beides nicht der Fall.

Dafür ist in der Flasche natürlich deutlich mehr drin. Es hat also beides seine Vor- und Nachteile und kommt auf jeden Fall aus darauf an, ob ihr lieber mit einem Nagellackpinsel oder einer Art Brushpen arbeitet.

Das Design nur mit den beiden Watercolor Farben hat mir an sich auch schon richtig gut gefallen, aber in meinem Kopf musste noch ein schwarzes Stamping drauf. Das hat dem Design dann den letzten Schliff gegeben, findet ihr nicht?

Abschließend kam noch eine Schicht Überlack von MDJ Creations drauf. Der trocknet schnell und super glänzend und lässt sich toll auftragen 😊

Das Design hat mir am Ende so gut gefallen, dass ich es direkt auch auf meine Fußnägel gebracht habe. 🙈😅

Today I want to show you a design that I am really proud of 😊

A while ago I received a watercolor pen from BornPretty and a watercolor in a bottle with a brush from beautybigbangs.

I really needed some time to figure out how I would want to use them. 

I am sure some of you have already trief watercolor on paper. I did, too, but it never worked out, just the way I wanted it. I will practice some day - whenever I have some free time oder need a new hobby 😅.

I was very skeptical, if it would really work for me on the nail.

I started with the bottle from BBB (the purple color) and wiped of some excess on the bottle neck. I applied it to the nail where a blob formed. I let that dry for a bit and put a new blob to the outline of the first one. That made it look a little deeper. You can see what I’m talking about on my pointer finger. When I was happy with purple I used the pen from BP (teal) to create some blobs with it and at the end I started to slightly blend the colors until I was happy.

I first applied a base coat and two coats of wild white ways and let them dry completely. Then I used my matte top coat as I read somewhere, that these watercolors ‚bloom‘ nicer on a matte surface.

Now I applied little blobs of color and let them dry in between, so they wouldn’t mix completely.

Application was a tad easier with the pen, as the brush was softer and it was more precise, but I think it also depends if you prefer nail polish brushes or brushpens.

I was also a bit scared about the smell - if it would smell a lot like alcohol or ammonia or something else, but it was almost odor-free.

You do have a lot more color in the bottle than you have in the pen so both products have their pros and cons.

The watercolor over white alone looked really nice to me, but I needed some black in there, so I put on a stamping. To me, that made the design even prettier!

I then applied a cot of the top coat by MDJ Creations as it dries super quick and really smoothes out everything so it looks super glossy ☺️
